Maan On The Moon is a French electronic music DJ duo composed of John Raays and Smil.
Career[modifier]
John Raays and Smil, form the duo Maan On The Moon a group of French DJ, composer, electronic music producer and artistic director. They combine their electronic influences for one, and hip-hop for the other and propose an electro music with pop connotations, sometimes folk with melodies always very marked.
In 2015, they sign their first international single with the Warner Music Group label in England and sign at the same time within the labels Blanco y Negro for the territory Spain, Latin America, WOW TV for Warner Music in Russia and for Play Two (ex Play On) in France.
Their notoriety begins in 2016 with the track Scar that entered the French Itunes chart and the top charts Spain of the Calibre 45 ranking of the radio Flaix FM. This success is confirmed with the second title Gone which is placed at the 8th position in the TOP 10 UK Music Week, England.
Scar and Gone, two tracks with eclectic universes between folk, house, deep-house and pop, cumulate more than 60 million global streams on all streaming platforms. The singles have been in the Spotify Viral 50, top charts in South Korea, Austria, France, Holland and Taiwan since their release. The singles have been played in the playlists of international DJs such as Robin Schulz, Fedde Le Grand, Sam Feldt while other artists like Hugel and Just Kiddin have collaborated on remixes.
These singles have been in rotation on French radio stations such as Virgin Radio, Fun Radio, Radio FG and on Spanish radio stations such as Máxima FM and Flaix FM as well as in other countries.The video clips are broadcasted on national and international TV music channels such as W9, MTV and others. The tandem is back with their single Black Train, with the same 'westerly' and melancholic voice as on Scar.
On the video side, the band calls on Charlotte Audrey's team and it's finally Liam Bevin who takes care of the animation, he who worked alongside Tiesto with Boom or Familiar of Liam Payne. A few months later, a remix pack is unveiled including headliners such as Hugel, Just Kiddin, JLV and Ovion, artist supported by Nicky Romero. On the scene, John Raays and Smil, participate in festivals as headliners like Virgin Radio ElectroShock, in Romania, composed of the line up: Sak Noel, Vigiland. The duo mixes on Radio FG, Virgin Radio ,on Party Fun Fun Radio France and Maxima FM Spain.
In 2019, John Raays and Smil collaborate featuring Jennifer Paige on the official remix of the title Crush of the singer. That same year, they release their first EP entitled Maan On The Moon which marks the beginning of an international collaboration.
The band collaborates with Chris Galland for the mixing of the tracks Black Train and My Rain. Chris Galland is part of Manny Marroquin's team at Larrabee Sound Studios in Hollywood, L.A., known for mixing hits by DJ Khaled, Shawn Mendes, Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran. On mastering, Chris Gehringer from Sterling Sound Studio for the track Black Train and Michelle Mancini for the track My Rain, both nominated for a Grammy Award for their work with Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, Cardi B and Jessie J. And to finish on the track Gone and Struggle for the mastering, Mike Marsh from The Exchange studios (UK), known for the masterings of Calvin Harris.
