The Gender Trust

The Gender Trust est une association caritative du Royaume-Uni promouvant l'éducation du public sur les problématiques transgenres et de l'identité de genre, et fournissant des informations aux personnes concernées. Elle est basée à Horsham, Henfield et West Sussex. Gender Trust se fait éventuellement porte-parole sur l'actualité concernant le transsexualisme[1]. Par exemple, quand le gagnant de 2004 du Big Brother était une personne transsexuelle, un port-parole du GenderTrust a dit du programme : « [Qu']il a permis de sensibiliser le grand public sur le fait que les personnes transsexuelles sont des gens ordinaires. »[2] Les employeurs ont été critiqués pour ne penser que rarement à la nécessité du changement de sexe, ou de la difficulté à laquelle font face les employés qui effectuent des opérations de réattribution sexuelle[3],[4].  Et il a soutenu Lady Gaga, en déclarant au Daily Star: « Lady GaGa fait tellement de bon travail pour la communauté transgenre et gay. »[5]

En 1997, The Gender Trust a été l'un des 65 groupes a qui la National Lottery Charities Boar a accordé des subventions[6] En 2003, il a été l'un des nombreux groupes de soutien, du Royaume-Uni, suggéré pour les personnes intersexes et les personnes ayant des problèmes d'identité de genre[7]. En 2007, il a été identifié comme l'une des organisations professionnelles à partir de laquelle une personne troublée par les questions d'identité de genre peut demander conseils[8].
