Corey Alston
Dr. Corey Alston was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the late Mr. Louis Alston and Ms. Barbara Alston. He is married to Asia Alston and has three lovely children (Emily, Caleb, and Carter Alston). Dr. Alston is a born again Christian, baptized by the late Rev. Dr. Mack King Carter at Mount Olive Baptist Church, and has been very active in church activities and ministry from a very young age. He served as President of the Youth Ministry, won two consecutive years at the National Baptist Convention’s Youth Oratorical Contest, and gave a trial sermon at the age of 14 before a congregation of 3,000. B.S. in Finance, Florida A&M University (Summa Cum Laude); M.S. in Finance, Florida A&M University (with Honors); Executive MBA, Northwestern University; Doctor of Theology, Midwestern Theological Seminary. He has multiple licenses, designations and certifications. Dr. Alston has always been viewed as a leader among his peers and has always been regarded for visionary, bold, and progressive leadership. This helped him be very successful in Corporate America for many years. Professionally, Dr. Alston has over 15 years of experience in investment banking, asset management, management consulting, economic development, municipal finance, and managing entrepreneurial ventures. Former analyst with Goldman Sachs Mutual Fund Group (New York) where he helped in the creation and monitoring of all performance metrics on $3.5 Billion in assets under management; Reported directly to the President of the Mutual Fund Group. Former Associate and Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company (Chicago and Frankfurt, Germany) where he advised multiple Fortune 500 companies across the United States and Europe on corporate strategy, corporate finance, corporate turnaround, operational improvement, and international growth.
Former Director with SBK Brooks Investment Corporation (now Blaylock Robert Van), where he managed the operations and strategy of the firm in the Southeastern United States; Firm participated in over $1 Billion of closed municipal bond deals and over $250MM of brokerage transactions on behalf of clients.
Immediate Past President and Chairman of the Florida A&M University Foundation; Served as Chair of the Investment Committee and managed the overall portfolio of over $120M, generated a nearly 50% return in final 2 years of leadership.
Served on multiple Civic Boards and Commissions including the Orange Bowl Committee, the Urban League, the Boys and Girls Clubs, The Minority Builders Coalition (Chair), Urban Academy Charter Schools (Chair), the Democratic Black Caucus (Chair), the Glades Utility Authority (Vice Chair), among others. Also is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Prince Hall Masons.
After a Corporate career with many substantial achievements at a very young age, Dr. Alston reached a crossroads in his life (and a perfect storm of challenges) that encouraged him to make a shift in his focus and direction. This led him to Seminary to obtain a ThD and to begin an exploration of how to help others become the best that they could be .. under the covering of our Lord and Savior. He has started a Christian K-12 school and has done a fair amount of Youth Ministry.
